Residents urged to bring their empty homes back into use

Homeowners and landlords are being urged to bring their empty homes back into use as part of National Empty Homes Week.

National Empty Homes Week runs from 4 to 10 December 2011 and is organised by the Empty Homes Agency, an independent charity. For more information visit www.emptyhomes.com

No Use Empty along with its district and borough partners is backing the national campaign that highlights the problems associated with long-term empty homes, whilst promoting the help on offer to bring them back into use.

Empty homes can deteriorate quickly causing problems to adjoining properties, attracting vandalism, fly-tipping and other criminal activity. Neglected properties can blight streets and neighbourhoods resulting in decreased property values and discouraging investment in the area.

However, many empty properties can be brought back into use fairly quickly and easily with the right advice and support.

No Use Empty has helped to bring over 1,900 homes back into use since its launch in 2005 by offering advice, support and interest free loans.

Please visit our contacts page to find the name of your Empty Property Officer who will be pleased to respond to your questions.

One of our partners, Sevenoaks District Council will be “tweeting” every day from 4 December with advice on Empty Homes. For further information contact Charlie Shacklock on 01732 227162 or e-mailcharlie.shacklock@sevenoaks.gov.uk
