7 Castle Street
A home from the heart
A father and his daughter drove past this run down property in Castle Street. His daughter said to her father ‘how sad to see a property so run down and not looked after’. This prompted David Todd, a local developer, to find out more about this property.
With further enquiries, he decided to buy this property at auction.
This mid-terraced five storey period property set within a Conservation area and is listed. The property was deemed as uninhabitable. Planning permission was granted to change the use of the ground floor, previously an office and convert into 5 self contained flats. 3 of the flats required planning permission and approved by Dover District Council.
The building was in poor condition having been empty for 10 years. With the assistance of NUE loan and Dover DC Top Up loan, Todd Street Ltd began the extensive works to bring this property back in to use, working along side the conservation officer to preserve many of the original features.
The property has been refurbished to a high standard offering 5 new homes available to rent.
Mr Todd, the owner named the building Unicorn House chosen by his daughter Olivia, how fitting is this.
